Night Ducks are privileged to live and create theatre in Treaty 7 Territory of Southern Alberta. Mohkinstsis, means “elbow in the river” and is where the Bow and the Elbow rivers meet. It is the traditional Blackfoot name for Calgary and is a traditional meeting point. We acknowledge that we are located on what are, and have always been, the lands of the Siksikaitsitapi Blackfoot Confederacy which includes the Nations of the Kanai (Blood Tribe), Siksika , Piikani , the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Tsuut’ina as well as the Métis Nation, (Region 3). We are thankful to embark on this journey to create theatre in this place, as it allows us to consider our roles and our connections to community not only as performers but as a human collective. We look forward to creating theatre that authentically deepens community connection, accountability and allyship based on principles of cultural humility.This is a living document that will be updated as we take continued action towards reconciliation.
